I got my Cold weather coat on.

The trip from Muskogee, Oklahoma to Yakama, Washington was a long ride on the train it was very beautiful and exciting to me, I saw snow capped mountains, lakes and wildlife, I will remember it forever. On the train was William Sr., Edna, William Jr. and Betty, Goldie and Cloie but I vaguely remember Sugar (Goldie) and Cloie being there because they didn't’t sit with us much. There was lots of Soldiers on the train and I think that’s Cloie and Sugars biggest interest. The soldiers were very nice to all.

Train stopped in Butte Montana, Papa (Mr. Hunt) and I got off the train to walk and stretch, when out side he asked the Conductor how cold it is. The conductor replied “20 below zero”. I remember it being so very cold I spitting and the spitball froze before hitting the ground and rolled. Papa looked around looked at me saying we better get back on the train. This is when I realized 20 below zero are dead serious. When we got in to the state of Washington some one said it was about 35 degrees, it was even more beautiful all the mountain beautiful green grass and snow cap that was higher than any thin I had ever seen.

Coming in to the Yakama area was great all the farms filled with tree after tree, I was told they was apple orchards, We are in the world famous Wenatchee Valley Washington where the most delicious apple in the world are grown. I remember asking about some strange looking fields with tall post with strand of wire strung across the top. Some one said this is Hoop field where Hoops are grown to make beer. These tall poles with wire across the top is where the vines are tied too so they will grow tall and the locks on the vine hang down and collecting the resin.

This area was rich farm area and we were here to work in the Hoop, Potatoes and Apple farms. First place we lived was on one of the farms. I remember going to school not so far from where we lived, I picked potatoes, Apples and cut Hoops probably didn't’t do much but I was there. We later moved to town “Yakama”. I think I started the 3 grade that year. More coming later
